A report by the French AFP news agency on February 26 quotes Iran's Oil Ministry as calling on Islamabad to honor its contractual commitments and complete a pipeline for Iranian gas exports to Pakistan.
The previous day, Pakistan's oil minister said work on the pipeline could not be completed because of U.S. and European Union sanctions imposed on Iran over its nuclear program.
Pakistan, a recipient of major American aid, has faced pressure from Washington to abandon the project. Iran says it has completed 900 kilometers of pipeline on its side, but Pakistan's 780-kilometer segment across the border remains unfinished.
The pipeline, with a reported cost of $7.5 billion, was expected to export 21.5 million cubic meters of Iranian gas per day to energy-short Pakistan.
