Iranian Parliament Passes Three-Month Budget

Lawmakers in Iran have passed a three-month stopgap budget.

The move comes after President Mahmud Ahmadinejad was nearly 90 days late in submitting his draft annual budget.

The delays come as the country is increasingly hard hit by international sanctions over Iran's disputed nuclear program.

It marks the third straight year that lawmakers have been unable to pass a budget for the March 21 start of the new fiscal and Iranian calendar year.

Earlier lawmakers criticized Ahmadinejad for attending the funeral of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez instead of dealing with the budget situation.
