Rohani Warns Opportunities Provided By Nuclear Deal Will Not Last Forever

Iranian President Hassan Rohani

Iranian President Hassan Rohani has warned that the opportunities provided by a landmark nuclear deal struck with world powers last year will not last forever.

"The opportunity that the nuclear deal has created for us is not permanent and eternal," Rohani said during a live speech on April 7.

Rohani was speaking at a ceremony in Tehran ahead of National Nuclear Technology Day on April 8.

The president also said he was in "favor of moderation policy" and wanted "interaction with the world."

Rohani's remarks appear a response to hard-liners criticizing him for the lack of economic results after the nuclear deal was implemented in January.

Under the deal, Iran accepted a cap on its nuclear activities in return for the lifting of international sanctions.
