Iran's Foreign Ministry has said that new European Union sanctions on Iran won't force Tehran back into negotiations with world powers over its nuclear program.
Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast also said the new measures will not stop Iran from making nuclear fuel.
He called the sanctions "illegal, unwise, and inhuman."
The EU on October 15 banned imports of Iranian natural gas and imposed other restrictions on trade and financial dealings.
Previous Western sanctions have targeted Iran's critical oil exports and access to international banking networks.
The West suspects Iran is seeking nuclear weapons.
Iran denies the claim, and says its nuclear research is meant for peaceful purposes.
