Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi says talks between the Islamic republic and world powers on Iran's nuclear program are now "on the right track."

Speaking on June 13 during a visit to Tehran by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Salehi said he was "optimistic" ahead of the next round of talks with six world powers in Moscow on June 18-19.

The comments came after U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on June 12 said Iran was "under tremendous pressure from the Russians and Chinese" to respond constructively to international proposals on ways to defuse tensions on the nuclear issue.

Last month's talks in Baghdad between Iran and the six powers -- Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia, and the United States -- failed to result in a breakthrough.

Iran denies trying to develop a nuclear weapon.
