Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has ruled out any cooperation with the United States in the Middle East.
In a March 21 speech marking Norouz, the Persian New Year, Khamenei said, "Negotiations with the United States are on the nuclear issue and nothing else."
Addressing a crowd in the northeastern city of Mashhad, he accused Washington of creating instability in Syria, Libya, and Egypt.
"U.S. objectives on regional matters are the opposite to our objectives," he said.
Khamenei also accused Washington of using economic pressure to try to turn the Iranian people against the Islamic Republic.
The speech comes as Iran, the United States, and five other world powers are negotiating an agreement to curb Tehran's nuclear program.
Iran insists that its nuclear program is purely for peaceful purposes, but Western nations fear it could be a cover for developing nuclear weapons.
