An Iranian negotiator has announced that Tehran has agreed to give UN inspectors "managed access" to military facilities as part of a deal with world powers over its contentious nuclear program.
The comments by Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi were carried on state television after he and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif attended a reportedly stormy closed parliament session.
A lawmaker in attendance was quoted as saying that UN inspectors would be allowed to take environmental samples from the sites.
The development would contradict Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's statement on May 20 that Iran would not allow such inspections.
Iran and six world powers are working to hammer out a nuclear deal by June 30 that would both assuage fears that Iran seeks a nuclear weapon and provide Tehran relief from harsh economic sanctions imposed over its nuclear program.
On May 24, Iranian President Hassan Rohani called for national unity to liberate the economy from the international sanctions.
