U.S. Dismisses As 'Cruel Lie' Iranian Claims Of Deal For Prisoner Swap

The United States has denied a claim by Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on March 12 that an initial agreement has been reached with the United States for an exchange of prisoners, dismissing it as a “cruel lie.” Iran's foreign minister did not give details of a potential deal. Several Iranian-U.S. citizens, including Siamak Namazi, Emad Sharghi, and Morad Tahbaz, are imprisoned in Iran. U.S. and Iranian media outlets have reported the potential for a deal in recent weeks.
