Iranian Guards Face Murder Charges In Pakistan

A Pakistani official says three Iranian border guards held in Quetta face murder charges after gunning down a man inside Pakistani territory while chasing people smugglers.

Deputy Commissioner Saeed Jamali said on January 4 that the case against the three Iranian guards will go to trial, although he did not specify the date.

Iran claims the three crossed the border into Pakistan unintentionally and has asked Pakistan to release them.

The incident occurred on January 1 in Baluchistan province, a desolate, sparsely populated region where the border is not clearly marked.
