Bomb Blast In Iraq Kills 11

Iraqis carry a wounded man at the scene of a car bomb attack in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk on October 15.

A bomb targeting Sunni worshippers has exploded outside a mosque in the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk, killing at least 11 people and wounding some 20 others.

The explosion happened as worshippers were leaving the Al-Qodus Mosque after prayers marking the start of the Eid al-Adha Islamic holy day.

This latest attack came despite tightened security for the Islamic holidays.

On October 13, at least 25 people were killed in violence across Iraq.

Some 5,000 people have been killed in violence around the country since April, when dozens died after Iraqi security forces raided a Sunni antigovernment protest camp.
