Deadly Car-Bomb Blast In Iraqi Shi'ite Town

Iraqi officials say a car-bomb attack near a market in a small town close to Baghdad has killed 14 people.

Police say that 37 others were wounded in the attack, which took place on the evening of June 6 in the small Shi'ite town of Balad Ruz, 70 kilometers northeast of the Iraqi capital in Diyala Province.

Medics in a nearby hospital confirmed the death toll.

Several shops and cars were destroyed by the blast.

No one claimed responsibility for the attack but the militant Sunni Islamic State group has often targeted Shi'a Muslims in Iraq.
