Deadly Car Bomb Hits Iraq Vegetable Market

A car bomb has exploded at a busy fruit and vegetable market in the Iraqi city of Samarra, killing at least 11 people on August 29.

Officials say at least 26 people were injured in the attack in a predominantly Sunni town north of Baghdad.

The bomb went off in the middle of the Mraydi market in the evening, a time when poorer people typically arrive to take advantage of reduced prices for goods before trading closes for the night.

The Mraydi is Samarra's biggest grocery shopping market.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
