Iraqi Forces Attack Near Tikrit

Iraqi armed forces backed by police and Shi'ite militia launched an attack on Islamic State militants 40km north of Tikrit on March 19. The fighting took place near to Beiji, Iraq's largest oil refinery. Iraqi forces have been battling to retake Tikrit and the surrounding areas without support from U.S. airstrikes. (AP)
