U.S. Airstrikes Hit Islamic State In Iraq, Al-Qaeda Targets

The United States and its allies targeted the Islamic State with 16 airstrikes in Iraq and 15 strikes in Syria, the U.S. military said July 10.

The Iraq strikes hit targets near Bayji, Fallujah, Habbaniyah, Haditha, Makhmur, Mosul, Sinjar, and Tal Afar.

In Syria, the coalition targeted Islamic State positions near Al Hasakah, Aleppo, Raqqah, Ayn Isa, Kobani, and Tal Abyad.

Meanwhiile, a suspected U.S. drone strike killed four Al-Qaeda members travelling by car in Yemen, Yemeni authorities said.

The airstrike took place July 10 in Mukalla, the capital of Yemen's sprawling eastern Hadramawt province, they said. The explosion was heard in some parts of the city.

Al-Qaeda's Yemen branch, considered to be its most dangerous, has made gains in the province and captured Mukalla earlier this year.

Authorities said at least five other militants were wounded in the airstrike.
