An initial contingent of about 10 Iraqi Kurdish fighters has entered the embattled Syrian town of Kobani to help their fellow Kurds push back Islamic State (IS) militants.
Kurdish and Turkish officials were quoted as saying on October 30 that a larger deployment was expected within hours.
Meanwhile, Syria accused Turkey of committing a "flagrant violation" of its sovereignty by allowing "foreign forces and terrorist groups" to enter Syria.
A total of some 100 Peshmerga troops have arrived by plane in southeastern Turkey, joined by a convoy of vehicles carrying heavy weapons.
More than 800 people have been killed and 200,000 people fled homes since IS militants launched an offensive on Kobani, on the border with Turkey, six weeks ago.
A U.S.-led aerial campaign has not broken their stranglehold.
