The Pakistani foreign ministry has lodged a formal protest with India over what it says was an unprovoked attack on a border post in the disputed Kashmir region.
Indian and Pakistani troops exchanged fire on January 6 along their disputed border in divided Kashmir, with each side blaming the other for the incident.
Islamabad says one Pakistani soldier was killed and one wounded in the attack, when Indian troops crossed the de facto border known as the Line of Control and stormed a military post.
The Indian Army has denied the accusation.
Muslim-majority Kashmir is a Himalayan region which India and Pakistan both claim in full but rule in part. It has been the cause of two wars between India and Pakistan since 1947.
