Italian Cruise Ship Adrift Off Seychelles

Italy's coast guard said that an Italian cruise ship -- the "Costa Allegra" -- is adrift off the Seychelles islands with more than 1,000 people on board after a fire knocked out its engines.

The coast guard said it has contacted local authorities in the Seychelles, adding that the accident happened near Alphonse Island in the Indian Ocean archipelago.

The coast guard said all passengers and crew on the "Costa Allegra" were "in good health and were informed promptly of the situation."

The "Costa Allegra" is from the same fleet as the ill-fated "Costa Concordia," which struck rocks and turned on its side off Italy's western coast on January 13.
