The man accused of the shooting rampage that seriously wounded a U.S. congresswoman and left six other people dead has pleaded not guilty to 49 charges against him.
Jared Lee Loughner entered his plea in an appearance in federal court in Tuscon, Arizona, where the shooting attack occurred on January 8.
Loughner is accused of opening fire with a semiautomatic pistol on a crowd attending a political event for Democratic Representative Gabrielle Giffords.
Giffords sustained major head wounds and is currently continuing rehabilitation.
