Afghan police say a suicide bomber has killed eight people and injured six in a grocery store in Kabul frequented by foreigners.
Kabul police chief Mohammad Ayub Salangi said three foreigners and a child were among the dead. The store is situated in the heavily guarded Wazir-Akbar Khan district, an area favored by foreigners and wealthy Afghans.
In a text message sent to reporters, the Taliban claimed responsibility, saying the attack was against the chief of a U.S.-based security contractor, Xe Services, formerly known as Blackwater.
