Kazakh President On Official Visit To Japan

Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbaev has held talks with officials in Japan while on an official visit.

The visit comes as Japan deepens its ties with post-Soviet Central Asian states.

Nazarbaev, who arrived to Tokyo on November 6, discussed bilateral ties with Emperor Akihito on November 7.

Nazarbaev also attended a Kazakh-Japanese business forum on November 7, where business agreements worth $1.2 billion were signed.

Nazarbaev also took part in a ceremony to remotely launch the Tokyo Rope Almaty steelworks in Kazakhstan.

In October, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe toured five Central Asian states and Mongolia.
