Two Blasts Hit Western Kazakh City

Kazakh prosecutors say two blasts, including a suspected suicide bombing, ripped through a city in western Kazakhstan today.

The blasts occurred in the Caspian port city of Atyrau, some 2,500 kilometers west of the capital, Astana.

No one was hurt in the first blast, which occurred near an administrative building.

The second blast killed one person, who was described by local media as a suicide bomber.

That blast was said to have occurred near the offices of the city's prosecutor, police, and national security committee.

Bombing attacks have been rare in Kazakhstan, but in May two blasts killed several people.
