U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry says he hopes important international issues, such as Syria, Iran, and Afghanistan, will not become the victim of Russia's actions in Ukraine. In an interview with VOA's Persian Service March 20, Kerry said Russia's annexation of Crimea could cause the destabilization of the rest of Ukraine. Kerry's comments came the same day U.S. President Barack Obama expanded economic sanctions against Russia, targeting some of the country's most powerful people, as well a bank that provides them support. Kerry said the United States would not allow the actions of one country to destroy what he called the "post-World War II order." (VOA)
