A Moscow court on May 7 sent noted Russian journalist Nadezhda Kevorkova to pretrial detention until at least July 6 on a charge of "justifying terrorism." The 65-year-old journalist's son, Vasily Polonsky, said the charge is related to two of Kevorkova's posts on Telegram in 2018 and 2021. Kevorkova, who was detained late on May 6 after police searched her home, pleaded not guilty. Kevorkova is known for focusing on conflicts in the Caucasus and the Middle East and on Muslims' rights in Russia and abroad.
