Leader Says Iran Will Hit Back At Any Attack By U.S., Israel

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei addresses the nation on the occasion of Norouz in Tehran on March 20.

Iran's supreme leader has warned that his country will hit back at any attack by the United States or Israel over Tehran's disputed nuclear program.

In a televised speech to mark the arrival of the Persian New Year, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Iran did not have atomic weapons and "will not build any."

But Khamenei added that if there was any attack by Iran's enemies, "we will attack them back at the same level as they attack us."

Iran faces a new round of Western sanctions over its nuclear program, which the West suspects is aimed at producing nuclear weapon.

Tehran denies the claim.

The United States and Israel have not ruled out a military option against Iran's nuclear facilities.
