Kosovo Submits EU Membership Application; Process Likely To Take Years

Kosovo on December 15 officially submitted its application to join the European Union, setting the country on a path to the bloc that is expected to be a lengthy process given that five EU members have yet to even recognize it. Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti handed Pristina's application to the Czech minister for European affairs, Mikulas Bek, at a ceremony in Prague.
