The prime minister of Kosovo has condemned a grenade attack on the homes of two Serbian members of the Kosovo Security Forces in the country's northern Mitrovica region.
Police said two explosions early on November 26 caused damage to two homes but no injuries in the town of Zubin Potok, about 55 kilometers north of the capital, Pristina. Three cars were also damaged.
Tensions often flare between the ethnic Albanian and Serbian communities of Kosovo, which declared independence from Serbia in 2008, a move recognized by 115 countries, although not by Belgrade or Russia.
Mitrovica is a Serb-majority region in northern Kosovo.
Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj denounced the attack and said it was "an unacceptable act that endangers the lives of citizens and seeks to prevent efforts to build a democratic society."
He urged the local the authorities to bring the perpetrators to justice and asked citizens to assist efforts to solve the crime.
Haradinaj is a former guerrilla commander who fought in Kosovo’s battle for independence from Serbia.
