As Fighting Continues In Kursk Region, Kyiv Says Its Forces Have Advanced Deeper Into Russia

Some 200,000 people have reportedly been evacuated from Russia's Kursk and Belgorod regions amid Ukraine's ongoing surprise incursion. Speaking with RFE/RL from inside Russia, a Ukrainian soldier said that units are facing different branches of the Russian military in the area. As Ukrainian forces continue to fight in Russia, Kyiv says that it has taken control of an additional 40 square kilometers of the Kursk region on August 13.
