One Killed As Russian Missiles Strike Kyiv Residential Area

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko (center) also arrived at the scene. Klitschko called the attacks on Kyiv an attempt by Russia to "intimidate Ukrainians" ahead of a NATO summit slated for Madrid on June 28-30.
Klitschko said one person was killed and six were injured, including a 7-year-old, who was in stable condition after surgery. The condition of her mother, who was also hospitalized, was much more serious, Klitschko said on Telegram.
The shelling caused a fire in a high-rise building.
Rescuers used special equipment to climb to the damaged floors of the building.
At least four Russian missiles are believed to have struck Kyiv.

The rockets also struck near a kindergarten located in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv.
Russia said its strike on Kyiv had hit a weapons factory, dismissing as "fake" reports that it had struck a residential area. The Artyom factory "was the target, as military infrastructure," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
No one was in the school on a Sunday.
Russia claimed in a statement that damage to residential buildings had been caused by a Ukrainian air-defense missile.
