OSH, Kyrgyzstan -- Special events commemorating the victims of violent ethnic clashes three years ago have been held in Kyrgyzstan's southern regions of Osh and Jalal-Abad.
Prime Minister Jantoro Satybaldiev visited the two regions on June 10 to take part in the events.
Satybaldiev told residents of the regions that his government would do everything to preserve ethnic harmony in the nation's south.
More than 400 people were killed and thousands were displaced during the clashes between Kyrgyz and ethnic Uzbeks in June 2010.
On June 7, Human Rights Watch (HRW) harshly criticized Kyrgyz authorities, saying justice for crimes committed during the violence "remains elusive and the authorities’ commitment to accountability is in doubt."
The majority of the victims were ethnic Uzbeks.
The HRW statement said the judicial process for mostly ethnic Uzbeks has been seriously flawed.
