A law that allows authorities to confiscate vehicles with Russian license plates came into force in Latvia on February 15. Owners of such cars were instructed last year that by February 14 they had to either replace the license plates with Latvian ones or remove the vehicles from the Baltic nation. Only vehicles of diplomatic missions and cars crossing through Latvia in transit are now allowed in the country with Russian plates. Latvia and several other EU nations have banned cars with Russian license plates on their territories over Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
