Lukashenka Replaces Several Top Officials

Belarusian President Alyaksandr Lukashenka has announced the replacement of several government officials and industry leaders in the country.

The president's press service announced on November 6 that Uladzimer Amarin was appointed as the country’s new finance minister, Yuriy Senko as chief of the State Customs Committee, Andrey Sharets was named mayor of Minsk, and Natallya Eismant was appointed as Lukashenka's new press secretary.

The service also announced that Ivan Halavatiy was named the new chief of Belaruskali, the state-owned potash producing giant; Vadzim Karyakin appointed as chairman of the State Control Committee in the eastern Vitsebsk region; and Aleh Sadovskiy as the head of the State Control Committee in the eastern Mahileu region.

No reason was given for the changes.
