Thousands of people gathered in protest in North Macedonia’s capital, Skopje, against draft laws on gender equality and identity in a demonstration supported by the Catholic Church, the Islamic religious community, and other religious communities in the small Balkan nation. Church leader Archbishop Stefan said the proposed laws would violate the “sanctity of the family formed by one man and one woman….
