Medvedev Holds Talks With Palestinian Leader In Jericho

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev held talks with Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas in Jericho on November 11.

Abbas said after the talks that Russia "must play an effective and permanent role in any events related to the peace process."

Abbas also said that he and Medvedev discussed a proposal by Russian President Vladimir Putin to hold a trilateral meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Moscow.

Medvedev expressed hope that the new U.S. administration would participate in the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.

Medvedev and Abbas also signed several bilateral economic and cultural agreements.
