The constitutional-amendment referendum in Moldova is crucial for its future, voters told RFE/RL outside polling stations in the capital, Chisinau, on October 20. "It's our future, our children's future," a woman said, pointing at her baby. Another woman said she voted "so that we can live like in Europe." In March, incumbent President Maia Sandu requested to hold the presidential election together with a plebiscite securing that the country's EU membership bid becomes enshrined in the constitution.
