Montenegro Detains Polish Citizen Suspected of Multimillion-Dollar Crypto Fraud

Montenegrin police announced on August 18 that it had detained Roman Ziemian, a Polish national wanted by Poland and South Korea for multimillion-dollar fraud. Ziemian, who cofounded the digital currency trading platform FutureNet, allegedly defrauded users out of around $21 million. The 51-year-old was detained in Montenegro capital, Podgorica, on August 17. Ziemian was previously apprehended in Italy in 2022 and was placed under house arrest before he escaped.
