Moscow authorities said on July 9 that the Basmanny district court has issued an arrest warrant for Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of opposition politician Aleksei Navalny, on a charge of taking part in an extremist group’s activities. Navalnaya was also added to Russia's wanted list. The move comes less than two weeks after Navalnaya was elected to head the Human Rights Foundation (HRF). Navalnaya replaced Garry Kasparov, another Russian opposition member living abroad. HRF is a New York-based nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights around the world.
