Pakistan's top court has granted bail to former President Pervez Musharraf over the death of a rebel leader.
The ruling, on October 9, takes Musharraf a step closer to being released after nearly six months of house arrest.
Musharraf faces murder charges for the 2006 murder of Baloch tribal leader Akbar Bugti. The Supreme Court decided to grant bail in the case in return for surety bonds worth $20,000.
The retired general faces an array of other court cases dating back to his 1999-2008 rule, including one relating to the assassination of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. He has now been granted bail in three major cases against him.
His lawyer, Ibrahim Satti, said Musharraf is "a free man now." The former president says the cases against him are politically motivated.
