NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg arrived August 26 for a two-day visit to Georgia.
He met with Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili shortly after arrival, and will meet August 27 with Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said. He will also meet with Georgian parliamentary representatives.
Also on August 27, Stoltenberg will take part in the opening ceremony of a joint military training center of NATO and Georgia at Krtsanisi military base near Tbilisi.
Georgian Foreign Minister Tamar Beruchashvili said the visit demonstrates the alliance's special support for Georgia.
"This visit continues the high-level political dialogue which has been intensively pursued in recent years," she said.
Stoltenberg is accompanied by NATO's special representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, James Appathurai.
