Sweden and Finland must extradite up to 130 "terrorists" to Turkey before its parliament will approve their bids to join NATO, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on January 16. The Nordic states applied last year to join NATO, but their bids must be approved by all 30 NATO members. Turkey and Hungary have yet to endorse the applications. Turkey demands Sweden in particular take a clearer stance against what it sees as terrorists, mainly Kurdish militants and those it blames for a 2016 coup attempt.
