Kyrgyzstan's Supreme Court on July 3 rejected an appeal filed by veteran government critic Zarina Torokulova against her imprisonment on a charge of online calls for mass disorders. In April, a Bishkek court canceled Torokulova's five-year suspended sentence after prosecutors argued it was too lenient and ordered the 47-year-old Torokulova to serve her sentence in prison. In January, Torokulova was found guilty of calling for mass disorders in a series of Facebook posts; she insisted she had nothing to do with them.
