U.S. President Barack Obama lays a wreath at the grave of former Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin at Mt. Herzl in Jerusalem on March 22.

After visiting symbolic sites in Israel, U.S. President Barack Obama has arrived to Jordan, another key U.S. ally in the region.

The U.S. president will meet with King Abdullah in Amman on March 22 for talks expected to touch upon the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the situation in Syria, where the ongoing conflict has sent hundreds of thousands of refugees into Jordan and other neighboring states.

Earlier on March 22, Obama was accompanied by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his trip to the Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Center.

He also laid wreaths at the graves of Theodore Herzl, the founder of modern Zionism, and Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin, who was shot dead by a Jewish fanatic opposed to peace with the Palestinians.

Obama also visited the biblical birthplace of Jesus in Bethlehem.

The U.S. president will meet with Jordan's King Abdullah in Amman later on March 22.

Obama and Abdullah are expected to discuss the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the situation in Syria, where the ongoing conflict has sent hundreds of thousands of refugees into Jordan and other neighboring states.
