Romania is well-known as a country rich in odd tourist attractions.
The medieval Bran Castle, where the legend says Count Dracula of vampire fame used to be jailed, is probably the most famous. There’s also the People’s House, the concrete eyesore built by communist-era dictator Nicolae Ceausescu in downtown Bucharest. And there’s the Merry Cemetery of Sapanta, where tombstones are painted in vivid colors and have humorously rhymed epitaphs.
And then there’s probably the oddest of the odd -- Osama bin Laden’s church.
After the death of the most-wanted terrorist in the world, Romanian media rediscovered a mural in a military chapel in the western city of Timisoara that depicts Osama bin Laden as Satan, riding an airplane and holding a trident.
In this bizarre version of the Apocalypse -- painted in 2002 -- bin Laden is heading for the World Trade Center towers, one of which is already on fire.
It looks like the artist was the first one to punish bin Laden for his crimes – forever.
