The OSCE chairman in office, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Azubalis, today said he deeply regretted that Belarus' authorities had not reconsidered their decision not to extend the mandate of the OSCE office in Minsk.
The mandate of the office expired at the end of last year, resulting in a three-month closure process that ended today.
Azubalis said the Belarusian authorities' decision was leaving the country's civil society "deprived of a valuable interlocutor."
