Last month, 22 people were killed when a bus toppled into a ravine in another part of Balochistan Province.

At least 19 people were killed and a dozen injured when a passenger bus slid off the road into a mountain ravine during a heavy rain in southwest Pakistan.

Mahtab Shah, an official in the Shirani district of Balochistan Province, said there were 35 passengers on the bus and that rescue workers were on the scene.

Shah said the bus had been traveling from Islamabad to Quetta and that all the passengers were men.

He added that some of the injured were in serious condition and the death toll could rise.

Deadly road incidents are common in Pakistan because of poor infrastructure, badly maintained vehicles, and reckless driving. Last month, 22 people were killed when a bus toppled into a ravine in another part of Balochistan Province.
