Five Pakistani Troops Killed In Suicide Car Bombing

Officials in Pakistan say a suicide car bomber has killed five people at a road checkpoint in the southwestern city of Quetta in restive Balochistan Province.

The paramilitary Frontier Corps said three of its troops were killed in the early hours of August 18 when the driver of a car they had stopped for a security check detonated his explosives.

Two military intelligence officials and the bomber were also killed in the blast.

No one has claimed responsibility for the blast, which comes during the Muslim Eid al-Fitr holiday and takes place in a region wracked by Taliban and nationalist violence.
