Six Pakistani Children Dead After Playing With Explosive Device

Police in northwestern Pakistan say six children have died after they reportedly played with an explosive device that blew up.

Police said on January 26 that the dead included five boys and one girl.

Police in the town of Hangu said the children apparently found the device in a field and played with it.

Earlier this month, in the same region, a teenage boy was killed when he interfered with a suicide bomber who was trying to attack his school.

The region, in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Province, is not far from the Afghan border and is used as a base by Islamist militants to carry out attacks.
