U.S. Drone Strike Kills At Least Three In Pakistan

Reports from Pakistan say a U.S. drone has fired two missiles at a vehicle in the North Waziristan tribal region bordering Afghanistan, killing at least three suspected militants.

The identities of the slain men were not immediately known.

But a security official in Peshawar told media privately that the area was mostly occupied by members of the militant commander Gul Bahadur's group.

The attack comes as Pakistani Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar is visiting Washington to discuss a range of issues, including how to resolve differences over U.S. drone attacks in Pakistan.

The CIA-run drone program is controversial in Pakistan, where many call it a violation of the country's sovereignty.

Many operatives of Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and other extremist Islamic groups have been killed in such strikes.
