Pakistan has received its first ever cargo of Russian crude oil as Moscow seeks out new markets in Asia amid Western sanctions. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced the arrival of the Russian cargo on June 11. Europe has slashed its imports of Russian energy and imposed price caps to punish the Kremlin for its invasion of Ukraine, forcing Moscow to turn to China, India, and now Pakistan for sales.
