Bomb Kills Pakistan Provincial Minister

A suicide bomber has killed a provincial minister and seven other people in the restive northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Law Minister Israrullah Gandapur was killed inside his home on October 16 as he greeted a suicide bomber posing as a guest. The bomber was among supporters who came to greet Gandapur on the first day of the Islamic festival of Eid al-Adha.

The attack was in the town of Kulachi in the southern Dera Ismail Khan district. At least 30 others were injured.

Gandapur was elected as an independent candidate in the May 2013 parliamentary elections. He later joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf.

That party, headed by former cricket star Imran Khan, opposes military operations against the Taliban and supports negotiations to end their insurgency.
