ISLAMABAD -- Pakistan's president and the leader of a Pakistani party have sent separate letters to Afghan President Hamid Karzai, reassuring him of their cooperation in the joint fight against terrorism.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Imran Khan, leader of the Tehrik-e Insaaf party, sent the separate messages after Karzai addressed open letters on October 13 to political and religious leaders in Pakistan in condemnation of the terrorist attack on teenage rights activist Malala Yousafzai.
In the letters, Karzai invited Pakistani leaders to help both countries take coordinated action against terrorism and extremism.
Zardari said in his letter that Pakistan was committed "to concrete action to eradicate the menace of terrorism and extremism."
Imran Khan said in his message that “we all have the responsibility to play a role in ending the violence."
